SCHOLARSHIP TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

1.     Introduction

 Before you apply for the scholarship grant, please read all of the following Terms and Conditions (TAC). If you apply, it means you accept these TAC and agree to the Fund’s requirements and conditions.

 This TAC document applies to the scholarships and grants administered by the Borisat Educational Fund – Switzerland (herein referred also as “Fund”).

 Note: The Fund may make changes to these TAC with or without notice.
 

2.      Conditions and Scholarship Qualifications

2.1. Eligibility criteria

 To receive a scholarship payment, you must meet the eligibility requirements outlined on the scholarships.

 2.1.1 Nationality: Only applicants from the following list of developing countries in Asia are eligible to be considered for the scholarship.

§ Cambodia

§ Indonesia

§ Laos

§ Philippines

§ Thailand

§ Vietnam

 2.1.2 Social background: Preference shall be given to applicants who can demonstrate that they belong to an impoverished family, especially when these candidates can provide proof of leadership potential.

 2.1.2 Degree Level: Applicants must be intending to start a course at the level of senior high school, bachelor or master’s degree.

 2.1.3 Other criteria

 The applicant must:

a.         Have graduated from an accredited elementary school/ high school/university;

b.         Have earned a minimum of 90 % average or a 1.5 GPA.

 Note: Continuing eligibility shall be assessed on an ongoing basis each semester. If you do not meet the eligibility criteria at the time of assessment, your scholarship may be terminated or placed on leave.

2.2. Examination

In order to demonstrate his/her ability to study at college level, the applicant must pass an exam in Math, English, and General Knowledge. The examination shall be taken by the recruiting officer of Borisat Educational Fund. No exam is necessary if the student is already enrolled in a university or has passed an entry exam.

2.3. Interview

After having passed the examination, the case officer will schedule an interview with the applicant. The application shall be evaluated on

§ Future goals and plans to achieve them

§ Ability to communicate the hardships he/she has overcome or currently face

§ Self-motivation in completing challenging coursework

§ Demonstrated need for financial assistance

 2.4. Enrolment

To receive a scholarship, the applicant must enrol in a full-time program of study at a university/college/senior high school. He/She must maintain an active (‘enrolled’) enrolment status at all times, unless he/she is on an approved leave of absence.

 Note: If the applicant has a ‘discontinued’ enrolment status or is not enrolled in any course/s, the scholarship shall be terminated or placed on leave.

 2.5. Enrolment Load

 To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant is required to have a full-time enrolment load. If he/she is a higher education student, to maintain full-time enrolment she/he must be enrolled in the minimum credit points per semester or in the program at the University.

 2.6. Duration of Scholarship

 The duration of the scholarship shall be advised in the offer letter. A scholarship’s duration cannot be extended.

2.7. Discontinuation of study

 If a scholar withdraws from the program, or the program is discontinued, the scholarship shall be terminated.

3.     Acceptance and Communication

A scholarship offer letter notifying whether or not you are accepted, shall be delivered. The Fund shall send any correspondence regarding a successful or unsuccessful application to the mailing address the applicant put on the scholarship application, unless the Fund prefers that correspondence be delivered to the applicant by the case officer.

 4.     Scholarship value and payments

 4.1 Value

 The value of the scholarship shall be outlined in the scholarship offer letter, to include full-payment of tuition fees and other school fees like books, apprenticeships (or on-the-job trainings), among others.

 4.2 Scholarship payments

 The scholarship offer letter shall detail information about payment of the scholarship.

 To be eligible to receive payment, the candidate must maintain a bank account (with a bank able to handle international banking) and ongoing eligibility for the scholarship and strictly comply with all stipulations in this TAC.

 4.3 Termination of a scholarship

 The Fund may terminate the scholarship if the candidate has:

§ discontinued the program or is not enrolled in a program; and

§ failed to meet the eligibility criteria and terms and conditions of the scholarship

§ been suspended or excluded for misconduct from the University

§ breached policies and procedures, rules and/or regulations or country’s laws

 4.4 Privacy and confidentiality

 The information supplied by applicants is collected for the primary purpose of assessing the eligibility to receive a scholarship. Other purposes of collection include dealing with administrative matters relating to the application and ongoing scholarship, and the compilation of statistics. Confidentiality shall be respected at all stages of the process.
